One branch of the Grand Union Canal runs from Limehouse Basin in East London, follows an arc through East and North London, before leaving London near Alperton. At Little Venice (nearest Tube Warwick Avenue), dozens of Narrow Boats that have been converted to homes are permanently moored. . . .

. . . . but after trudging through miles of dereliction and decay you come across a tree like this that makes the whole walk worthwhile!

This lovely old building is on Borough High Street SE1, just south of London Bridge. The hop factors would have supplied hops to the many breweries that once existed around this part of the River Thames.
